Hello, I’m Kelsey!
First I want to say, thank you for being here! It’s an amazing step towards growth and/or healing! If you’ve made it to this page, that probably means you want to learn a little more about me before deciding if I would be the right counselor for you. So let’s jump in and see if I might be a good fit for you!
I am a fully licensed mental health counselor in both Nebraska and Colorado. I currently practice in Kearney, NE and provide telehealth services as well, if that’s more your jam. I’ve been a counselor for about 6 years now which is wild to think about because this career wasn’t even on my radar when I first started school at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. It wasn’t until I had already changed my major 5 times before an amazing friend said “you are so good at listening to people, you should look into psychology” and here I am! At UNK, I received my bachelors degree in psychology and followed it with my masters degree in clinical mental health counseling.
Over the past 6 years, I have primarily worked in an outpatient setting providing individual counseling to a wide variety of people. I also have experience with severe and persistent mental illness as I used to be a behavioral health tech at Richard Young Behavioral Health Hospital while I attended graduate school. In April 2024, I officially started my own counseling practice and have been learning and growing in this new chapter of my life!
My Approach
I consider myself to be very person-centered and solution focused when it comes to my style of counseling. This means that whatever you need the time to be, that’s what we make it. I tend to be very laid back and casual while we focus on what is currently available to you to help you reach your goals. Whether you are working through stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma, I am committed to tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and experiences of each individual I work with.
My goal is to make sure my client’s feel safe, welcome, and supported in a completely judgement free zone. I also believe that the relationship with your therapist is one of the most important aspects of therapy or counseling. That’s why I tell people up front that if I’m not their vibe, I am more than happy to help find someone who may be a better fit. I just want to make sure that YOU get the type of care you want and/or need.
Populations I see
Please note: my scope of practice, availability, and style of counseling are factors in my ability to work with various concerns and diagnoses. If there comes a time that a referral is appropriate, I will be fully transparent and we will further discuss this if needed.

Fun facts about me
Penelope
I am VERY much a cat lady. At home, I have two cats that are my absolute pride and joy. Penelope will be 9 years old this year and has been with me since she was a tiny kitten. Luna will be 4 years old this year and has been with me for about 3 years now. When I’m at home, you can find Penelope on my lap or somewhere near me about 95% of the time!
To many people’s surprise, I love playing video games! Some of my favorites include The Sims, Overwatch, and Animal Crossing!
Another hobby that I love is being involved with color guard. I am currently a color guard instructor at an area school and have coached and/or choreographed at a few different places over the last 9 years!
